PSHE & RSE

An Introduction to Green Haworth’s PSHE and RSE Curriculum

At Green Haworth, our PSHE and RSE curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and values they need to flourish both now and in the future. It is rooted in our school’s Christian ethos and reflects our commitment to supporting all children to achieve their best in a Church of England school, in a nurturing, supportive and inclusive environment. Through carefully planned learning, we seek to promote respect, resilience, responsibility and a strong sense of personal well-being.

PSHE, or Personal, Social, Health and Economic education, provides pupils with opportunities to explore the practical and moral aspects of everyday life. RSE, or Relationships and Sex Education, helps children to understand the importance of healthy relationships, personal boundaries, family life, and the development of mutual respect. Together, these subjects form an essential part of the wider curriculum, enabling pupils to make informed, safe and confident decisions as they grow.

Our curriculum is age-appropriate, progressive and responsive to the needs of our pupils. It encourages open discussion, thoughtful reflection and the development of secure emotional understanding. Children learn how to recognise and manage feelings, resolve conflict appropriately, value diversity and appreciate the importance of kindness and empathy. In addition, they are taught how to keep themselves safe, both online and offline, and how to seek help when needed.

At Green Haworth, we recognise that every child is unique. Our approach ensures that all pupils are valued and supported, and that learning is delivered with sensitivity and respect. We work in partnership with families and the wider community to ensure that our PSHE and RSE provision is coherent, well-informed and firmly aligned with the needs of our children.

Through this curriculum, we aim to prepare pupils not only for the next stage of their education, but also for life as thoughtful, responsible and compassionate individuals.
